The Wolfman Bites
Think about a reason a movie can suck. There can be a staggeringly simple to the point of boredom storyline (think Ballistic: Ecks Vs Sever). The acting can be terrible (think Showgirls). Worse yet, the acting can be terrible by some of the most talented actors on the planet (think the great Al Pacino in 88 Minutes). And then, something could happen that is so fiercely absurd, no amount of disbelief-suspension can overcome it (think Pierce Brosnan surfing a melting glacier in Die Another Day).
So what’s wrong with The Wolfman?
Pick a card. Any card.
Now, it should be noted that a few factors were outside of the filmmakers’ control. The first was that your esteemed author showed up three minutes late and with a solid five beer buzz. Not like a Miller Lite buzz, we were drinking Belgian triple IPAs. The other problem was that on not one, but two occassions, the aforementioned author excused himself in search of snacks. Actually, that probably is an indictment of the film, considering the first wolf encounter reminded him how badly he wanted popcorn, and the first big transformation reminded him how well Raisinettes would go with it.
